Danny Jones- Head Golf Professional
Danny joined the staff at Walden in 1992. Born in New York City, Danny was raised in Beaumont, Texas where he attended Lamar University. He began his career in golf at Beaumont Country Club in 1979. He also served apprenticeships at Henry Homberg Golf Course in Beaumont and The Club at Sonterra in San Antonio, Texas. Danny is a Class A member of the P.G.A. of America, Certified Titleist Club Fitter and a P.A.T. Examiner and a member of the South Texas P.G.A. Rules Committee.
Larry Finke- Superintendent of Golf Course and Grounds
Larry joined Walden in 1976 as Golf Course Superintendent. Born and raised in Navasota, Texas, Larry Graduated from Texas A&M University. Larry began his career as an Assistant Superintendent at April Sound Country Club in Montgomery, Texas. He is a Class A Member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, and has memberships in the Lone Star Golf Course Superintendents association, the South Texas Golf Course Superintendents Association and the Texas Turfgrass Association. Larry is also a Texas Department of Agriculture Certified Pesticide Applicator.
Robert Simpson- Head Teaching Pro & Assistant Golf Professional
Robert has been a part of the Walden golf club professional staff since march 2012, where he began as an assistant professional and part time instructor.
Robert has found his passion in teaching all players and all skill levels and a passion in developing new players and junior golfers and is on track to be at the golf school full-time. Robert is a member of the Professional Golfers of America as well as having certifications through: TPI, US Kids Golf Coach, Positive Coaching Alliance and a certified club fitter through Titleist, Mizuno and Ping.
Alessandra Maurtua- Assistant Golf Professional
Alessandra joined the Walden staff as an Assistant Professional in May of 2012. She is on the tail-end of her journey as she goes through the PGA, PGM Program. Originally from Lima, Peru, she has successfully played the game at a collegiate level while at High Point University in North Carolina where she was the top ranked player for the school with several top 10 finishes. She brings immense experience to the staff at Walden, and is excited about working to provide an invaluable experience to her students and to the members of Walden.
Terry Alsup- PGA Teaching Professional
Terry Alsup is a PGA Teaching Professional at Walden Golf School. Terry joined our staff in April 2012. He comes to Walden from Las Vegas after working as Director of Instruction at John Jacobs Golf Schools. He became a PGA member in 1969 and has over 35 years of experience as a golf professional.
Richard Lee- Assistant Golf Professional
Richard joined the Walden Staff in October 2008. He is a native of Kansas City and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1957 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a pilot in the USAF for seven years and then flew twenty seven years for TWA. Before moving to Montgomery, Richard worked at Tiffany Greens Golf Club for six years. His passion, drive, and love for the game of golf helped him to win two of Kansas City’s most prestigious championships – Match Play Champion 1976 and Senior Stroke Play Champion in 2000.
Alex Perkins - Assistant Superintendent of Golf Course & Grounds
Alex Perkins is originally from Dallas, Texas. He went to school at Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas where he received his associates in applied sciences in agronomy and turf grass. He has previously worked at the Club of Carlton Woods and the Golf Club of Houston where they host the PGA’s Shell Houston Open annually. Alex came to Walden as Larry Finke’s assistance tin August 2016.
